Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and AccraLife (“AccraLife,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the AccraLife game, website, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1.Eligibility and Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to hold an account, and we may suspend or delete any account we have reason to believe belongs to someone under 18, at any time and without prior notice.
You must also have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in the place you live, and your use of the Service must not be prohibited by the laws that apply to you.
2.Your Account
To use most features of the Service you need an account, created with a username and password. You may optionally provide a real email address; if you don’t, the Service assigns your account an internal address under the @accra.life domain, which is not an inbox you can send or receive mail at — it exists only so your account has an email field. Your password is managed and stored by our identity provider, Neon Auth (built on Better Auth); AccraLife does not store your password directly.
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, whether or not you personally took the action, unless it happened because of a security flaw in the Service itself rather than something within your control (such as sharing your password). You agree to:
- keep your password confidential and not share your account with anyone else;
- use accurate information when you register, to the extent you provide any (your email is optional);
- notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission; and
- maintain only one account per person, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
3.The Service We Provide
AccraLife is a browser-based life-simulation game set in a fictionalized version of Accra, Ghana. You create a character and can work jobs, run virtual businesses, bank and invest virtual currency, rent or buy virtual property, interact with in-game police and legal systems, date other players’ characters, and socialize through an in-game social feed (“Video Gist”) and direct chat with other players. The Service is provided for entertainment purposes. We may add, change, or remove features, content, or systems at any time, including during the development period described in the notice above.
4.Virtual Currency and In-Game Items
AccraLife uses an entirely virtual, in-game currency denominated in Ghanaian Cedi symbols (“GH₵”), used across every money-related feature in the game — banking, jobs, businesses, property, the in-game stock/crypto simulation, vehicles, loans, the in-game sportsbook (“AccraBet”), and the in-game mobile-money feature (“Hubtel”). Regarding this virtual currency and any other virtual item, property, or status in the game (including characters, inventory, businesses, and account progress):
- it has no real-world monetary value and is not a substitute for real currency;
- it cannot currently be purchased with real money, and nothing in the Service today processes real payments of any kind;
- it cannot be redeemed, cashed out, withdrawn, sold, or exchanged for real money, goods, services, or anything of real-world value, by you or by us, under any circumstance;
- it exists only within the game and has no value or effect outside it; and
- you have no ownership interest, property right, or legal claim to any virtual currency or item in your account — it is a feature of the Service we make available to you for as long as your account exists and the Service operates, not something you own.
Because no real money is ever involved, AccraLife’s virtual currency and features like AccraBet are not real gambling, a real financial product, or a real investment, regardless of how they are styled in the game. See our Disclaimer for more on this.
If we ever introduce real-money purchases in the future, that will happen under updated terms presented to you separately, and this section will be revised accordingly.
5.Acceptable Use
You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:
- cheat, exploit bugs, use unauthorized third-party software, or otherwise gain an unfair advantage;
- access or attempt to access another player’s account, impersonate another person or AccraLife staff, or misrepresent your identity;
- harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse another player, including through in-game chat, the social feed, or the in-game dating feature;
- post or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually exploitative of a minor, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- attempt to buy, sell, or trade accounts, virtual currency, or in-game items for real-world money or value outside the Service;
- reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service, or attempt to access it through means other than the interface and APIs we provide; or
- violate any law that applies to you in connection with your use of the Service.
We may investigate suspected violations and take any action described in Section 7 (Suspension and Termination) in response.
6.User Content
“User Content” means anything you submit through the Service, including chat messages, Video Gist posts, and your character or avatar choices. You keep whatever rights you have in your own User Content. By submitting it, you grant AccraLife a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content within the Service, solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service to you and other players (for example, showing your chat messages to the player you sent them to, or your Video Gist posts to other players who can see them in-game).
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not violate these Terms, any law, or anyone else’s rights. We may remove or restrict access to User Content that we believe violates these Terms, at our discretion, without an obligation to do so.
7.Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us or another player, or if we are required to do so by law. Staff with appropriate permissions can suspend accounts for a fixed period or indefinitely as part of ordinary moderation of the Service.
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can request permanent deletion of your account through the account-deletion feature in the Service; see our Privacy Policy for what deletion does and does not remove.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Virtual Currency and In-Game Items, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law and Disputes — continue to apply after your account is suspended, terminated, or deleted.
8.Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free, that any defect will be corrected, or that your in-game data will never be lost, reset, or corrupted — this is especially true while AccraLife is in active development, as the notice at the top of this page explains.
AccraLife is a work of fiction set in a fictionalized version of Accra, Ghana. See our Disclaimer for details on the fictional setting, and on what the Service is not (including that it is not real gambling or a real financial service).
9.Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, AccraLife will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or virtual currency or items, arising from or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) one hundred Ghana Cedis (GH₵100), since the Service does not currently charge for access.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the limitations above may not apply to you in full. In that case, our liability will be limited to the smallest extent the law allows.
10.Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold AccraLife harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your User Content, or your misuse of the Service, except to the extent caused by our own breach of these Terms or violation of applicable law.
11.Changes to the Service or These Terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may update these Terms from time to time; if we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where practical, take reasonable steps to let players know. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to an update, your remedy is to stop using the Service and, if you wish, delete your account.
12.Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the law of the country where you live, you agree that the courts of Ghana will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not resolved informally between us.
We encourage you to contact us first (see Section 14) so we can try to resolve any issue informally before either side takes further action.
13.General Provisions
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be interpreted to reflect the parties’ original intent as closely as the law allows. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account; we may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and AccraLife regarding the Service, and supersede any earlier agreements on the same subject.
14.Contact
AccraLife does not yet have a dedicated support or legal contact address published. Until one is available, in-game reports and moderation requests can be made through the Service’s own reporting features where provided. We will publish a contact address here as soon as one exists.
